Which oil is more effective?

Synthetic oil has more stable working properties than, say, mineral or semi-synthetic oil. That said, a genuine, good-quality engine oil should never actually harm the engine, as long as its formulation, quality and viscosity match the car manufacturer's requirements. It really just comes down to choosing the right service interval.
