That way you save a good deal of time and money on the expensive repair of the cooling system, the brake booster's hydraulic circuit, the vacuum brake, and the automatic transmission. The one exception to this rule is buying a car from a trusted friend (someone who kept up with every fluid change and will hand you the service book), or a car with a fully transparent service history at an official dealer.
