Description
BP Autran Dex/Merc is a fluid from the Autran line for older-generation automatic gearboxes whose maker specifies a Dexron II/III or Mercon level; it can also be used in power steering systems.
It carries no official carmaker approvals; the maker states that it meets the requirements of GM Dexron III-H and Ford MERCON.
Typical figures: kinematic viscosity 7.4 mm²/s at 100 °C and 35 mm²/s at 40 °C, viscosity index 185, pour point -51 °C, Brookfield viscosity at -40 °C 16,200 mPa·s. The fluid is red.
It is not a substitute for Dexron VI, Mercon V or Mercon SP fluids, so it should not go into gearboxes that require those specifications.
Application
Older-generation automatic gearboxes that call for a Dexron II/III or Mercon-level fluid, and power steering systems. Not for units that require Dexron VI, Mercon V or Mercon SP.
