API CF-2 (CF-II) Class
In this section: 12 articles
Oils intended for use in two-stroke diesel engines operating under heavy conditions.
The class was introduced in 1994. Engine oils of this class are typically used in two-stroke diesel engines running under increased load. API CF-2 oils must contain additives that provide highly effective protection against wear of internal engine parts such as cylinders and rings. In addition, these oils must prevent deposits from building up on internal engine surfaces (an improved cleaning function).
An engine oil certified to the API CF-2 class has improved properties and may be used in place of earlier equivalent oils provided the manufacturer recommends it.
