Engine oils for diesel engines with indirect injection. The classes were introduced between 1990 and 1994. The digit after the hyphen indicates a two-stroke or four-stroke engine.

The CF class describes engine oils recommended for use in indirect-injection diesel engines, as well as other types of diesel engines running on fuel of varying quality, including fuel with a raised sulphur content (for example, more than 0.5% by mass).

Engine oils certified to the CF class contain additives that more effectively prevent piston deposits, wear, and corrosion of copper-containing bearings, which matters a great deal for these types of engines, and can be circulated by conventional means as well as by a turbocharger or compressor. Engine oils of this class can be used wherever the CD quality class is recommended.
