Engine oils for petrol engines built from 1994 onward. The class was adopted in 1992 for engine oils recommended from 1993. This class is defined by higher requirements than the SG class, which it was designed to replace, improving anti-deposit, anti-oxidation and anti-wear properties and giving better corrosion protection. Engine oils of this class are intended for use in the petrol engines of passenger cars, minibuses and light trucks, in accordance with the recommendations of their manufacturers. Engine oils of this class were tested in accordance with the requirements of the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA). Engine oils of this class can be used wherever the vehicle manufacturer recommends the SG class or an earlier one.
