IVECO Stralis tractor unit The IVECO tractor unit, one of the most popular on today's automotive market, inherited the best qualities of its predecessors, the IVECO EuroTech and IVECO EuroStar. Production of tractor units under this marque began in 2002. And by 2003 the Stralis had already earned the title "Truck of the Year."

The jury, made up of representatives from 19 European countries, gave the vehicle this high honour for its looks, the functionality of its cab, and, of course, its technical specifications — a powerful engine, including one fitted with VGT technology, a transmission notable for its high reliability, and its fuel efficiency.

But the vehicle's refinement didn't stop there. In 2007, IVECO gave the Stralis line-up a facelift. Besides changes that significantly reshaped the vehicle's exterior design, the developers introduced a number of structural innovations based on experience running trucks on Russia's demanding roads.

Stralis trucks are fitted with three types of engine — all from the Cursor family, in 8, 10 and 13 litre displacements. These are the first diesel engines to use variable-geometry turbochargers. Thanks to VGT technology, it became possible to reach maximum torque at low crankshaft speeds, which significantly cuts fuel consumption, making the engine highly economical. In terms of European exhaust emission standards, the engines meet Euro-3 through Euro-5. The service intervals of the Cursor engines are also worth noting: 80,000 km for the Cursor 8, and 100,000 km for the Cursor 10.

The high operating performance and environmental credentials of the engines, together with the ability to fit the IVECO Stralis chassis with various types of superstructure, make this vehicle highly sought-after — sales of IVECO trucks didn't even stop during the global economic crisis.

Thanks to the chassis's versatility, transport companies and vehicle owners who decide to buy an IVECO can get equipment that matches their needs as closely as possible. Among the possible variants are car carriers, flatbed platforms, refrigerated vans, tankers for transporting various liquids including food-grade ones, fuel tankers, container carriers and other equipment.
