The group that makes Opel cars works closely with ELF on supplying engine oil for the German cars. ELF had to fight hard against fierce competition to win this contract. The quality of its products earned high marks from the automaker's experts. The French company ELF is a subsidiary of one of the market's leaders — the oil and gas group TOTAL, which brings together several European companies.
Opel cars are supplied with an engine oil to the 0W-30 standard. In the list of original consumables it's labelled Long Life Engine Oil 0W-30. It's used as the initial, first fill in the engines. Its other name is ELF Evolution SXR 0W-30.
This product fully meets the parameters of the A5/B5 category, set by the modern automotive industry standard ACEA-2002. That means this engine oil delivers 4-5 percent more fuel savings than a traditional 15W-40-type oil. And its service life, at the same time, is considerably longer. As a result, preventive maintenance and engine repairs on an Opel become much less frequent when ELF Evolution SXR 0W-30 is used.
This product is more advanced technologically than run-of-the-mill synthetic equivalents. It's used in modern V6 engines, as well as four-cylinder 16-valve power units. ELF Evolution SXR 0W-30 engine oil suits practically every driving condition — city driving and motorway driving alike. It has high thermal stability. It's fairly resistant to chemical attack. It holds on to its original qualities for a long time.
On top of that, ELF also makes engine oils under the Opel brand in 5W-40, 10W-40, and 15W-40. One that stands apart in this lineup is ELF Exellium LDX 5W-40. These oils are also recommended for use in many other cars.
Of course, preventive maintenance, servicing, and repair on an Opel should be carried out according to the requirements set for it. For that you need to use original consumables and parts. Only then is a successful result guaranteed.
