Description
Elf HTX Prestige 40 is a mineral monograde SAE 40 oil from the HTX range for cars from roughly the first half of the 20th century. It also suits engines without an oil filter or with a centrifugal cleaner.
The oil is rated API SL and CF; the data sheet gives no carmaker approvals.
Its detergency is deliberately moderate, so it does not wash away the carbon deposits that act as a seal in such engines. It also protects against rust during long periods of storage. Typical figures: 13.8 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 135, pour point -24 °C. Available in 5 litre packs.
Application
Veteran and vintage cars from roughly the first half of the 20th century, including engines without an oil filter or with a centrifugal oil cleaner.
