Parts for MTZ tractors: repairs by professionals

Tractors from the Minsk Tractor Works help out collective and private farms, mechanising human labour partly or fully. Cotton-harvesting models (Belarus-80Kh), orchard models (Belarus 921.3, Belarus 921.4-10/91), and specialised MTZ equipment have found use in forestry (Belarus ML-131, Belarus L82.2), in resource extraction (Belarus MP-403M, Belarus MPL-373M), and in municipal services (Belarus 320 MK, Belarus MUP-351P).

Wherever MTZ equipment is used, the plant's specialists strongly recommend using only genuine tractor parts when servicing the machines, since these extend the equipment's service life.

Often, trying to save on an expensive repair, specialists at farms and collective enterprises carry out repair work themselves when some part fails, swapping in cheaper alternatives for failed MTZ tractor parts. But as many such specialists learn from their own experience, this substitution leads to neighbouring parts failing too, putting the whole tractor out of action. At that point they have to turn to specialised centres, and the repair ends up costing a great deal.

An irresponsible approach to replacing parts with cheap alternatives ends up costing even more if reckless economising harms the tractor's own driver. After all, a machine is made up of various systems, and their coordinated work is what keeps the driver safe. For example, in the MTZ-80 there are many parts, each of which affects the tractor's trouble-free operation: the lower radiator tank 70U-1301075 and the upper one 70P-1301055, the crankshaft 243-1005015, the D-240 main bearing shells (KN1, KN2, KR1-4), the D-240 connecting-rod bearing shells (ShN1-2, ShR1-4), the D-240/65 piston rings, the PTFE ring, the valve rocker arm 50-1007212-A3(A4), the tube 240-1104300-01(02-04), plus numerous hoses, gaskets, gears and filters. Systems like the gearbox, the clutch, the transfer case, the braking system, the front and rear axles, the steering, the hydraulics and the electrical system all need special attention when parts are replaced.
