Description

Shell Spirax S5 ATF X is a synthetic multi-vehicle Spirax fluid for conventional automatic transmissions, mainly Asian and North American designs, and for power steering and hydraulic systems.

No formal approvals are listed; the fluid meets GM Dexron, Dexron II and Dexron III, Ford MERCON and MERCON V, Allison C-4, Toyota T-III and T-IV, Aisin Warner JWS 3309, Honda ATF Z-1, Nissan Matic D/J/K, Mitsubishi and Hyundai/Kia SP-II/SP-III, Hyundai/Kia Red-1K and JASO 2A-02.

Typical figures: 7.2 mm²/s at 100 °C, Brookfield viscosity 12,000 mPa·s at -40 °C, flash point 190 °C. The fluid is red.

Not for CVTs, dual-clutch gearboxes, Type F or low-viscosity specifications (Dexron VI, Mercon LV).

Application

Service fill for conventional automatic transmissions, mainly of Asian and North American design, as well as heavy-duty automatics, power steering and hydraulic systems that use a fluid of this class.
