As the brand's popularity grew, in 1952 the company B.V. was renamed B.V. — ARAL, and the word Aral became part of the company's logo for the first time. Then in 1962, ARAL and B.V. split, giving rise to the joint-stock company Aral AG.

In 1967, Aral AG was controlled by three major shareholders, each holding about 28% of the shares: VEBA-CHEMIE AG, Gelsenberg AG, and (pay attention!) Mobil Oil AG. But by 1978 the controlling stake (56%) had passed to Veba Oel AG (formerly VEBA-CHEMIE AG), and by 2000 Veba Oel AG had become the full 100% owner of Aral AG.

In addition, in 1999 an agreement was signed under which Aral Ultimate 100 fuel became the official fuel of the DTM touring car races, and in 2001 a general agreement was signed with the VW concern, under which Aral engine oils officially became the factory-fill oils for Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda engines.

Finally, in 2002 Veba Oel AG was sold to the BP (British Petroleum) group, and from that point Aral became BP's official representation in Germany. Over 600 BP filling stations in the country were rebranded as Aral and repainted in Aral's familiar white and blue, well respected in Germany.
