Shell Helix HX7 10W-40

Description

Shell Helix HX7 10W-40 is a semi-synthetic oil from the Helix HX7 line, blended from synthetic and mineral base oils. It is intended for the everyday running of car petrol, diesel and gas-fuelled engines, including stop-start town driving and turbocharged direct-injection petrol units, and the maker claims protection against LSPI.

The oil is rated API SP and ACEA A3/B4 and holds official VW 501.01 and VW 505.00 approvals. It meets the requirements of MB 229.3, Renault RN0700 and Renault RN0710 without formal approval.

Typical figures: 13.9 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 153, pour point -42 °C, flash point 242 °C.

As a full-SAPS A3/B4 oil, it is not intended for diesels fitted with a particulate filter.

Application

Petrol, diesel (without a particulate filter) and gas-fuelled car engines in everyday use, including stop-start town driving and turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines.
