Description

Shell Spirax S3 AS 80W-140 is a Spirax gear oil for heavily loaded hypoid axles, developed for Scania. It suits axles with oil filters and allows extended drain intervals in some vehicles. Renault Trucks recommends it for P1370 axles.

The oil is rated API GL-5 and MT-1 and holds the approvals Scania STO 1:0 and ZF TE-ML 05A, ZF TE-ML 12E, ZF TE-ML 16C and ZF TE-ML 21A.

Typical figures: 24.8 mm²/s at 100 °C, 237 mm²/s at 40 °C, viscosity index 132, flash point 185 °C, density 904 kg/m³.

It also suits non-synchromesh and some synchromesh gearboxes specifying GL-5 or MT-1, but not manual gearboxes that call for GL-4.

Application

Heavily loaded hypoid axles in Scania trucks, including those with oil filtration systems, plus non-synchromesh and some synchromesh gearboxes where the maker specifies GL-5 or MT-1.
