Description

Shell Rimula R3+ 40 is a Rimula monograde engine oil of SAE 40 viscosity for the diesel engines of off-highway machinery, earlier-generation road vehicles and stationary units under steady load, and for transmissions and hydraulic systems that call for an engine oil.

The oil is rated API CF and ACEA E2 and holds official MAN 270 and MTU Oil Category 1 approvals; it meets MB 228.0 without a formal approval.

Typical figures: 13.5 mm²/s at 100 °C, 126 mm²/s at 40 °C, viscosity index 102, pour point -15 °C, flash point 250 °C. It is not intended for Detroit Diesel two-stroke engines.

Application

Off-highway machinery, earlier on-road diesels, transmissions and hydraulics specified for engine oil, and steadily running stationary engines; biodiesel is allowed at the maker’s drain intervals.
