Description

Shell Rimula R4 X 15W-40 is an engine oil for heavy-duty diesel engines in on- and off-highway vehicles.

Classes: API CI-4, CH-4 and SL, ACEA E7, E5 and E3, JASO DH-1, Global DHD-1. Approvals: CAT ECF-1a and CAT ECF-2, Cummins CES 20071, Cummins CES 20072, Cummins CES 20075, Cummins CES 20076, Cummins CES 20077 and Cummins CES 20078, DDC DFS 93K215, Deutz DQC III-18, DTFR 15B110, Iveco 18-1804 T2 E7, Mack EO-M, Mack EO-M Plus and Mack EO-N, MTU Oil Category 2, Renault Trucks RLD-2, Volvo VDS-3. It meets CNH MAT 3520 and MAN M 3275-1 without a formal approval.

Typical figures: 14.7 mm²/s at 100 °C, base number 10.5 mg KOH/g, sulphated ash 1.45 %.

Application

On- and off-highway diesels built to Euro 2 to Euro 5 limits; biodiesel is allowed at the maker’s drain intervals. For engines with a particulate filter Shell recommends Rimula R4 L or R5 LE.
