Shell Rimula R4 Multi 10W-30 is a Rimula diesel oil for turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines, recommended especially for off-road equipment such as tractors and mining machinery.

The oil is rated API CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF and JASO DH-1 and holds official approvals CAT ECF-1a, CAT ECF-2, Cummins CES 20071, Cummins CES 20072, Cummins CES 20075, Cummins CES 20076, Cummins CES 20078, Mack EO-M and Mack EO-M Plus, and meets CNH MAT 3520 without approval.

Typical figures: 12 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 145, base number 10.6 mg KOH/g, sulphated ash 1.5 %, pour point -42 °C.

Its ash content rules out engines with a particulate filter; for those the maker offers Rimula R5 LE.

Application

Turbocharged and naturally aspirated diesels in normal service, especially off-road equipment such as tractors and mining machinery; not for engines with a particulate filter.
