Description

Motul SPECIFIC 229.52 5W-30 is a fully synthetic, mid-SAPS engine oil from the Specific line. It is intended for Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC diesels with SCR and/or a particulate filter, and is also suitable where earlier Mercedes-Benz low-SAPS standards are specified.

The oil is rated ACEA C3 and holds official MB 229.52 approval; the maker claims API SN as its performance level. It is compatible with SCR systems, particulate filters and catalytic converters.

Typical figures: kinematic viscosity 12.2 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 164, HTHS 3.5 mPa·s, pour point -42 °C, base number 7.1 mg KOH/g, sulphated ash 0.77 %. Available in 1 litre.

It is not a substitute where Mercedes-Benz specifies a full-SAPS oil.

Mercedes-Benz cars with BlueTEC diesels fitted with SCR and/or a particulate filter where the manufacturer requires MB 229.52, as well as engines specified for earlier Mercedes-Benz low-SAPS standards.
