Description
Shell Rimula R6 ME E4 5W-30 is a fully synthetic full-ash oil from the Rimula line for extended drain intervals in Euro 2/3 truck and bus engines and some Euro 4 engines. The 5W grade eases cold starts compared with thicker multigrades.
The oil is rated API CF and ACEA E4 and holds official approvals DTFR 15B120, Iveco 18-1804 TFE, MAN M 3277, MTU Oil Category 3, Scania LDF-3 and Volvo VDS-3.
Typical figures: 11.6 mm²/s at 100 °C, viscosity index 166, base number 16.4 mg KOH/g, sulphated ash 1.9 %, pour point -39 °C.
Given its high ash, it does not suit engines with a particulate filter, and the maker does not recommend it for Caterpillar engines.
Application
Euro 2/3 and some Euro 4 truck and bus engines from Mercedes-Benz, MAN, DAF and other makers, on extended drain intervals; not for Caterpillar engines or engines with a particulate filter.
