Texaco's Uzbek subsidiary, together with the Bulgarian Prista Oil Group, has announced the start of synthetic engine oil production in the country under the Prista brand.

According to the company's official statement, the full package of certificates and approvals for producing this new generation of synthetic lubricants, along with the manufacturing license, was obtained a few months ago. The project, whose total budget is being kept secret, is carried out with the support of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz.

Total production for 2012 is planned at a level of 5 million litres. The first batch of Prista Ultra 5W-40 oil has already rolled off the line. In the near future, Uz-Texaco plans to push imported products out of the local market and to enter the markets of Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

It's worth noting that since it was founded in 1997, the Uz-Texaco joint venture has set up production of more than thirty types of lubricants in Uzbekistan. Besides the republic itself, its products are currently used in Central Asian and Eastern European countries, as well as some countries further abroad.
