The oil-refining giant Shell and the Italian motorcycle maker Ducati have announced a 3-year extension of their partnership agreement. Over the past seven years, the Marlboro Ducati motorcycles, running on Shell petrol and engine oils, have won repeatedly in MotoGP.

Through the end of 2013, Shell remains the official technical partner of the Ducati factory and its projects, including the racing team's participation in MotoGP. In practice, this means that in every country where Ducati assembly lines operate, Shell continues to be the official supplier of fuels and lubricants. The supplied lineup includes Shell engine oils Advance, and Shell V-Power fuel, used in the Desmosedici ridden by the Marlboro Team.

Ducati's team first took part in the Grand Prix in 2003, and Shell was already supplying lubricants for Ducati back then. Its entry into MotoGP was preceded by repeated wins in World Superbike. The year 2007 was marked by a triple win for the Ducati factory in MotoGP: Casey Stoner became champion, and the team also won the team championship and the Constructors' Cup. Ducati's list of victories also includes achievements in World Superbike: 9 constructors' titles and 6 individual rider wins.
